PSD2 (Payment Services Directive2) is an EU directive that regulates payment services and payment service providers. Its objective is to facilitate the provision of unique payment services in the European Union and make electronic payments within the EU "cheaper, easier and safer" for consumers.
PSD2 simply explained: since 14.09.2019, a two-factor verification helps the customer pay securely on the Internet. A single password will not be enough in the future. Today, you need two or more factors from different categories when paying or other "fraud risk" activities. It is conceivable a combination of password and fingerprint, for example, or a PIN code linked to a smartphone. But PIN and TAN is also a valid combination. Your bank decides on the need and the second identification.
What does it mean for my payments with Ubeo?
In short, everything remains the same for you as a customer. Find cheap offers, win and enjoy. In addition to Ubeo, this also applies to our Ubeo Club orders.
In the payment process on our website or in the Ubeo application, it is possible from 14.09. so that there is one more step in which the bank verifies your identity. Verification is integrated in the payment process.
How does it work?
Everything remains the same until payment: select the payment method and enter your details. These are sent to your bank and the bank decides if a second authentication is required.
In the case of a second authentication, you will be asked to indicate the second factor (such as PIN or fingerprint).
After successful payment authentication and authorization, your reservation will be confirmed.
Note that you are updating the Ubeo application to the latest version as soon as it is available.
